History
Today’s plant was established in 1930 as a monastery operation for wood waste processing
In July 1929 and again in October 1930, devastating windstorms struck the monastic forests of the Broumov region. The Benedictines therefore established Holzverwertung Braunau, abbreviated as HOBRA. The company first produced pressed beer coasters and later lightweight wood-fibre board

HOBRA boards became so widespread that the word “HOBRA” entered the Czech dictionary as a generic term for wood-fibre board.
Lightweight boards for thermal and acoustic insulation found their main application in construction. After nationalization in 1948, the HOBRA name disappeared and production gradually shifted to filtration sheets and refractory insulation materials. In 1998, the Školník family acquired the plant and restored its original name. Today, HOBRA supplies filtration and insulation products to customers on four continents..
